One to one private english lessons

Group classes vs. one to one classes

When people engage in language lessons, one of the decisions they must make is: do they want group classes or individual classes? The default format for English classes, as well as many other classes and courses, is the grupal approach. Taking group classes has a series of advantages, some more meaningful than others depending on the case.

For example, group lessons can be used as a way to know new people and even make friends. Classmates can help you outside of the classroom and you can gather to practice or review lessons. This is especially important if you are taking English classes abroad, and you don't have many social contacts outside the classroom. Another aspect that sometimes makes a big difference is that group classes tend to be much cheaper than individual classes because the cost is split among all the students.

Finally, since language is a tool for communication and interaction, in group classes it's easier to practice your skills and put them to use for its intended purpose. You can talk to your classmates and practice conversation in a more challenging environment, and everyone can learn from each other.

However, one to one private lessons do have their own advantages, which make them perfect in some cases. One to one classes focus more on you and your mistakes, so this scheme often makes you progress faster. Individual classes are more intensive and you can focus on the particular aspects of the language that are useful for your needs or interests. So if you don't know yet which option is better for you, let's delve a little deeper into the subject.

Classroom and settings

The need to understand the learning process is basic for any course design that is effective and meets its goals. Each student has its own learning process, so some of them will benefit from one to one classes better than others. You need to understand your own learning process, so you realize which scheme works better for you. Perhaps the best way to realize it is to try both styles, but not in all cases is this possible.

One to one lessons are often considered a good complement to regular group classes. In individual classes, you can review lessons that you find more difficult to understand, or practice some subjects with which you have more trouble. In an individual class, the teacher's attention will be 100% on you, so all your mistakes will be detected. This is great for polishing your skills and refining your pronunciation, writing and comprehensions abilities, which are Common Challenges in the English Classroom.

Even if you feel more comfortable with group classes, we suggest that you take an individual class at least every once in a while, so the teacher can take a closer look at your skills and your mistakes, and keep track of your learning process. One of the main disadvantages of group classes, especially large groups, is that some students may be left behind without the teacher realizing, so this can be compensated with one to one following in individual classes.
